The Body Compassion Project Retreat

Himalayan Institute, Honesdale, PA

Our signature annual CE retreat, now in its 6th year. The Body Compassion Project is a fully experiential and transformational continuing education experience exploring body compassion, chronic illness, body relationship, and healing through somatic practice, yoga therapy, creative expression, and deep community. This is not a lecture. You will move, breathe, create, and connect while earning 10 CEs.

What Makes Our Retreats Different

Our retreats are not vacations with a CE tacked on. They are designed by a licensed
psychotherapist and yoga therapist who understands what clinicians actually need:
nervous system restoration, genuine connection, embodied learning, and space to be
a human being instead of a human doing.

Every detail, from the schedule pacing to the venue selection to the facilitation style, is
informed by trauma-informed practice and nervous system science. You will leave feeling
restored, connected, and inspired.

This month long training will utilize the yogic lens of the Koshas as a holistic diagnostic, treatment, and self-care model. The koshas are 5 layers of being and can be conceptualized as nesting dolls. The layers, or sheaths of the body, are the Physical Kosha, Breath or Energetic Kosha, Mental/Emotional Kosha, Wisdom & Intellect Kosha, and the Bliss, Spirit, & Higher Self Kosha.

Tokyo, Nara, and Kyoto, Japan · Spring 2027 or 2028

A 7 to 10 day cultural immersion for therapists and healers, led by a guide who lived there. Private outdoor onsen under the stars, Rinzai zen temple stay, cherry blossom viewing, Tsukiji fish market, monkey onsen, Asakusa, Harajuku, and ryokan experiences. Date depends on level of interest.
